The Cincinnati Bengals just got a huge win in the upcoming 2021 NFL draft — and it’s only late March.
Cincinnati can thank the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers for the help. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins agreed to trade the draft’s third-overall pick to the 49ers, moving down to 12 and receiving future assets in exchange.
Miami was one of the biggest threats in the top four to take a non-quarterback such as Penei Sewell or Ja’Marr Chase — two guys the Bengals figure to want.
Now the picks in front of the Bengals read like so:
New York Jets
Translation: Four quarterbacks could come off the board before the Bengals walk to the podium, giving them the pick of whoever they want from the rest of the class.
That’s a pretty good feeling for a Bengals team that has needs along the offenisve line and at wideout still.
For what it’s worth, there’s a suggestion out there that Joe Burrow continues to encourage the Bengals to draft his LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase.
